| 1. Commitment To Our Patients | ||
| "I have been
exposed to so many different patients in my training - different cultural
groups, different and unique disease processes. I don't think I would have
had the same opportunities at many other programs."
Alycia Rodgers, M.D. |
At Cook County Children's Hospital (CCCH) our mission is
to provide high quality care for all pediatric patients regardless of their
parents' ability to pay. In a separate building on the Cook County Hospital
campus we meet the emergency, inpatient, and critical care needs of acutely
and chronically ill patients. As a part of the Cook County Bureau of Health
Services we provide primary health care to children from all walks of life
and ethnic backgrounds. Cook County Hospital is the only "safety-net" hospital
in Chicago and has a long, proud tradition of serving the neediest patients.
We are "the" hospital for many families who have been served by County
physicians for generations.
At a time when public hospitals across the country are closing, Cook County is building a new hospital. Building, too, on over a century of experience in urban medicine, we are establishing more community-based clinics to improve the health of our neighborhoods. We seek residents who possess a strong commitment to improving the lives
of underserved children and families in an urban environment. We expect
most graduates to enter primary care, well trained and prepared to serve
the community in which they will practice. We hope that you can meet this
challenge and join our family.
