Cook County Children's Hospital is located just west of Chicago's Loop in the world's largest urban medical district. Created in 1941, the District has more than 12 million square feet of medical, educational, and research facilities with a daily population of 80,000 employees, faculty, students, residents, and visitors in its 560-acre campus. In addition to the Cook County Hospital campus, the district is home to three other hospitals: The University of Illinois at Chicago Health Sciences Center, Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center, and the VA Lakeside/West Side Medical Center. There are also many state and city agencies located in the district such as the Departments of Public Health and Children and Family Services.

Many of our residents live in or near the medical center district where they can take advantage of the nearby Italian and Greek neighborhoods. The medical district is easily accessed by the Eisenhower expressway, city buses, the elevated train system, and the Metra commuter trains.
